This is the step-up trip for adventure seekers aged 12 and up: Class 3-4 rapids that punch through the walls of Horseshoe Canyon, big waves, big splashes, and a grin you won’t be able to wipe off. Feeling brave? Take the optional cliff jump partway down.
Like every Chinook trip, a world class professional guide rides every raft and you get full safety instruction and a practice paddle before the whitewater begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
How wild are the rapids?+
Horseshoe Canyon runs Class 3-4 whitewater — a real step up from the Kananaskis. Minimum age is 12 and you should be comfortable getting seriously splashed.
Is the cliff jump mandatory?+
Not at all — the cliff jump is completely optional. Plenty of guests cheer from the raft.
How long is the tour?+
Plan for about 4 hours total, departing at 8:30am.
Where do we meet?+
At our River Base on Hwy 1A near Nakoda Lodge — under 25 minutes from Canmore, 40 minutes from Banff, and about an hour from Calgary.
What is the cancellation policy?+
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.
Booking Terms
- Guests must be at least 12 years old.
- Guests must check in at the River Base before the posted departure time.
- All adults must sign a waiver prior to the trip. A waiver must also be completed by the legal guardian of any guest under 18.
- Lifejackets and helmets are mandatory and provided.
- Guests under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted on the river.
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before departure.
