RAFT GUIDE
Raft Guiding with Chinook offers all the perks of a great work environment right on the edge of Banff National Park. We welcome Class III and IV raft guides from all over the world (must have valid work visa/permit for Canada). If you are an outdoor enthusiast looking to start raft guiding professionally, check out our annual Guide School to start your career in Whitewater Rafting. Our wages are industry-competitive, and dependant on experience.
Pre-requisites for Raft Guide position:
- Previous raft guide training and certification in paddle rafts OR successful completion of our annual Guide School
- Minimum standard first aid (16hr course) and CPR certification
- Rescue 3 Swift Water Rescue Technician Level I or equivalent
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid Canadian work permit/visa holder
Assets:
- Competent Class IV paddler / raft guide
- Wilderness first aid (40hr-80hr course)
- Excellent hospitality, public relations and customer service skills
- Enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing person that loves the outdoors
RAFT GUIDE / TRIP LEADER
Are you a raft guide with at least 2-3 years of experience? As a Raft Guide/Trip Leader with Chinook you'll be helping to train newer guides, and taking on more leadership to support the smooth and successful running of the trip. Our wages are industry-competitive, and dependent on experience.
Pre-requisites for Raft Guide/Trip Leader position:
- Minimum 2 - 3 years raft guide experience in paddle rafts
- Professional River Outfitters Association of Alberta River Rafting Guides certificate or International/Provincial equivalent
- Completion of high school
- Minimum standard first aid (2-day course) and CPR certification
- Rescue 3 Swift Water Rescue Technician Level I or equivalent
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid Canadian work permit/visa holder
Assets:
- Competent Class IV paddler / raft guide
- Trip Leading experience with small rafting groups is beneficial
- Wilderness first aid (40hr-80hr course)
- Excellent hospitality, public relations and customer service skills

SENIOR TRIP LEADER
Senior Trip Leaders lead our large team of guides and their guests safely on Class III and IV rivers, while delivering exceptional levels of guest service. They are responsible for overseeing & leading the training of our Junior & Senior raft guides. Senior Trip Leaders require plenty of initiative and flexibility to deal with any situation, on and off the river. Our wages are industry-competitive, and dependent on experience.
Pre-requisites for Senior Trip Leader position:
- Professional rafting experience (5+ years) on Class III-IV rivers in paddle rafts.
- Professional rafting Trip Leader experience (1-2 years)
- 1-2 years of experience training and instructing newer guides
- Current Wilderness First Aid Certificate with CPR 'C' (min 80 hours)
- Current Swiftwater Rescue Technician certification (preferably through Rescue 3 International)
- Alberta Class 5 Driver's License or equivalent license from another province / country may be considered
- Exceptional customer service skills
Assets:
- Alberta Class 2 or Class 4 Driver's License
- Raft Guide Examiner certification
- Experience guiding Class IV rivers on oars
- Enthusiastic, reliable and outgoing person that loves the outdoors
TRIP ASSISTANT/DRIVER
Drivers at Chinook do so much more than just drive. You'll be an integral member of the team with responsibilities as diverse as offering info about the local area to our guests, prepping for the trip, assisting with organization at the base, handing out gear, being a smiling, friendly face for our guests, and much more. Oh, and safe operation of our fleet of buses and vans of course! Our wages are industry-competitive, and dependent on experience.
Pre-requisites for employment:
- Alberta Class 2 Driving License (or equivalent provincial license)
- Clean driving record with a commercial driver's abstract
- Minimum standard first aid (2-day course) and CPR certification
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid Canadian work permit/visa holder
Assets:
- Wilderness first aid (40hr course)
- Interest in photography & tour guiding
- Problem solver
- Excellent hospitality, public relations and customer service skills

OFF RIVER ASSISTANT
Off-River Assistants are the first point of contact for our guests, so your excellent customer service skills will be put to good use. You'll also be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the smooth running of the trip, and for taking top-notch photos of our guests (photography experience is an asset, but full training is provided). Our wages are industry-competitive, and dependant on experience.
Pre-requisites for employment:
- Alberta Class 5 Driving License (or equivalent license) with a clean driving record
- Minimum standard first aid (2-day course) and CPR certification
- Excellent hospitality, public relations and customer service skills
- Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or valid Canadian work permit/visa holder
Assets:
- Alberta Class 2 or Class 4 Driving License with a clean driving record
- Wilderness first aid (40hr course)
- Interest in photography & simple vehicle maintenance
