Our Operations Team out at the river are at present monitoring the water levels on the Bow river, which is the river we run the Horseshoe Canyon rafting trip on, and the river level is running extremely high. When the river level gets too high we have to opt for an alternative river for safety reasons.
In this instance we would be able to offer, in place of the Horseshoe Canyon, a whitewater rafting trip on the Kananaskis river with added extra ‘surfs’. ‘Surfing’ is a fun technique utilized by the guides to steer the rafts back into the rapids and stay riding the waves rather than just paddling through them like normal. Surfing and riding the rapids is sure to be a blast with our experienced guides and is not something you can do on every river. They will ensure you get extra wet and have a wild time as we are able to make smaller rapids feel much bigger while surfing them! Some photos of this trip can be found our Kananaskis surf trip page on our website.
- Could affect all bookings in May and June 2018 due to high snowfall from winter 2017/18 season.
The meeting time and place is still the same at Nakoda Lakeside Lodge at 8:15am. Or if you are booked with transport from Banff or Canmore the pickup point and time is as per your confirmation. Our minimum age on the Kananaskis surf trip is the same as the Horseshoe Canyon trip, 12 years and older.
Any questions regarding our river levels on the Horseshoe Canyon please call our reservations team!
