Favorite Things to do in Canmore

Admire the Three Sisters Mountain

It’s the iconic landmark of Canmore. The Three Sisters Peaks (Big Sister, Middle Sister, and Little Sister – or Faith, Hope, and Charity, respectively). Find them from any viewpoint in town; they are hard to miss at almost 10,000 feet up! The best views in town are from the Cammore Bridge over the Bow River, or take a Helicopter Tour for the most breathtaking views!

Attend the Canmore Highland Games

Since 1991, The Canmore Highland Games have been a celebration of Celtic culture and are held the first weekend in September. Allegedly, King Malcolm III launched the first Games here between 1058 and 1093. The Games include piping, drumming, dancing, athletics (like the heavy sport of caber toss), entertainment, and exhibits showcasing Canadian Scottish & Celtic culture.

Explore the Canmore Caves

Discover the exciting guided tour of the infamous underground caving adventures in the Rat’s Nest Cave under Grotto Mountain. Climb, crawl, wiggle, and slide through the cave to see ancient formations & pictographs. Marvel is at the Grand Gallery, and take the challenge squeeze.  Contact Discover Banff Tours to book your adventure.

Enjoy A Round of Golf

Enjoy a summer golf round in this scenic Rocky Mountain Town and take advantage of its world-class golf clubs, which are popular with golf enthusiasts.

Book a round at any of the six excellent courses, such as Stewart Creek or Silvertip, offering incredible views of the Three Sisters, Cascade Mountain, Pigeon Mountain, and Ha Ling Peak.

Watch for Wildlife

Visit Canmore in the Canadian Rockies, and you’re likely to spot some wildlife! Canmore is a popular hang-out for elk wandering in town. Visitors also regularly see deer and coyotes, with the occasional black bear. Stay observant to experience this wildlife treat. Be sure to respect and maintain a safe distance. If your presence changes any animal’s direction, you’re too close.

Visit the Canmore Geoscience Centre

The Canmore Museum and Geoscience Center is a way to immerse in the town’s history and geology through exhibits like ‘From Coal to Community’ showcasing the local culture, railway expansion, and coal’s importance. Their interactive exhibits expand into culture, arts, and adventure, which makes it a popular visit for families on a rainy day.
